Driver OK, Hit Pole, Closed Ocean Drive

COLD SPRING – Officers with the Lower Township Police Department investigated a single car motor vehicle crash Aug. 19 at 9:57 a.m. on Ocean Drive in Cold Spring involving a vehicle that left the roadway and struck a utility pole. 
Upon arriving at the crash location, officers observed the utility pole had been knocked down and was lying across the roadway.   
The vehicle, operated by Anthony Polifronio from Gillis Place, Secaucus, was traveling north on Ocean Drive when it left the roadway and struck the pole.  
After striking the pole, the vehicle was deflected into the marsh. Polifronio suffered minor injuries and refused medical treatment.
Ocean Drive was impassable for several hours during the investigation and the installation of a new pole by Atlantic City Electric.
The accident is under investigation by Patrolman Steve Flitcroft.
