UPDATE: Veronica Townsend is in the hospital recovering, according to a family member.
WHITESBORO – Troopers from New Jersey State Police Galloway Station responded to a one-car motor vehicle crash on the Garden State Parkway at milepost 7.4 northbound in Whitesboro at 6:41 p.m. June 9.
Trooper Alejandro Goez said Veronica Townsend, 27, of Wildwood, was traveling northbound in the left lane when she lost directional control of her vehicle, a 2003 Ford Explorer. The vehicle went off the road to the left, and then went back across the lanes of travel to the right shoulder, where the vehicle overturned multiple times, causing serious injury to Townsend.
Townsend was medevaced to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division. There were no updates on Townsend’s condition as of June 13.
There were no other passengers in the vehicle.
The right lane was closed for five hours while police investigated.
No charges have been filed at this time. The crash is under investigation.
