By Press Release

ERMA – Lower Township police officers were dispatched to the intersection of Breakwater and Seashore roads March 30 at approximately 3:39 p.m. for a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a vehicle that had been driven into a house. Officers on scene discovered a vehicle occupied by two individuals.
According to a release, the driver of the vehicle, Carol A. Adams, 72, was unconscious upon arrival. Lower Township police officers, as well as Lower Township Rescue Squad immediately pulled Adams out of the vehicle to begin CPR.
The 91-year-old male passenger was able to remove himself from the vehicle where he was then evaluated by Lower Township Rescue Squad.
Scene investigation revealed Adams was traveling southbound on Seashore Road. Adams lost consciousness at the intersection of Seashore and Breakwater roads, causing the vehicle to veer off the roadway to the left, crossing the center line of the intersection before striking a curb. The vehicle then continued straight until striking a fence and then into the north side of a residence in the 500 block Seashore Road.
Adams was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center and was pronounced deceased after arrival. The male passenger was uninjured at the time of the investigation.
The motor vehicle accident is still an open investigation. The investigation is being conducted by members of Lower Township Police Department, as well as Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office.
