RIO GRANDE — Middle Township police are investigating the crash of a pickup truck into a building at The Gatherings at 2:48 p.m. Tue., May 10.
Middle Township Police Department responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident where a vehicle ran through a fence in the shopping plaza where Sleepy’s and Office Depot is located.
Upon arrival, officers were found the vehicle, a 2000 white Ford Ranger, which had come to final rest after striking a house at 3 Lochalsh Lane. Lochalsh Lane is in The Gatherings, a Beazer Homes development located by the shopping plaza.
The driver, Brian M. Neill, 30, of Wildwood Crest, was out of the vehicle when officers arrived.
Investigation revealed that Neill had hit several curbs in the shopping plaza, then a fence behind the shopping plaza belonging to Beazer Homes. The fence surrounds a drainage area, which the vehicle traveled through before striking another area of the fence.
The vehicle then struck the model home for the development. There was no one in the structre at the time of the accident.
The rear of the home sustained heavy damage.
Neill stated he believes he passed out. He was treated for minor cuts and abrasions by Middle Township Emergency Medical Services and refused further treatment. Neill was issued a summons for reckless driving.
Rio Grande Fire Department also responded to the scene. Cpl. Fred Crawley investigated.
