Driver Charged with DWI in Two-Car Collision

COURT HOUSE — Middle Township police, fire and rescue responded to a two-vehicle crash at 3:40 p.m. Thur., Dec. 15 on Route 9 in front of Atkinson’s Tavern. The highway was closed from Johnstown Lane to Shellbay Avenue as the accident scene was cleared.
According to police, Aileen Caba, 27, of Wildwood, was driving a 1995 Hyundai Accent north on Route 9 when she crossed over the median into oncoming traffic and struck a 202 Honda Accord driven by Alicia Van Epps, 34, of Burleigh.
Witnesses to the accident had observed Caba weaving in and out of traffic for approximately one mile prior to the collision.
The Jaws of Life were used to extract Caba from the wreckage. She was flown by Medivac to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center. Her condition is unknown.
Van Epps sustained minor injuries and was transported via ambulance to Cape Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Caba was charged with driving while intoxicated and several motor vehicle violations.
Middle Township Police, Middle Township Rescue, Medic 9 and Court House Fire Department all responded to the scene.
