This report is based on information received from law enforcement.
ERMA – Members of the Lower Township Police Department responded to a one-car motor vehicle crash in the area of the 500 block Seashore Road (County Route 626), located in Erma Aug. 26 at approximately 2:41 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers found a 2014 Jeep Compass, which was traveling northbound, had run off the roadway to the right, striking a utility pole, before coming to rest, disabled, in the northbound lane of travel.
The driver, Elizabeth Madden, 23, of Wildwood, was able to free herself from the vehicle prior to police arrival. Madden was conscious and alert and she was evaluated by Lower Township Rescue for minor injuries to her left forearm, but refused transport to the hospital for further medical evaluation.
Atlantic City Electric responded to the scene and dispatched a crew to replace the utility pole.
Madden was issued traffic summonses for driving while intoxicated (DWI), reckless driving and failure to maintain lane.
Upon completion of processing, Madden was released to a friend.
The crash is being investigated by Patrolman Kenneth Walker and the DWI is being investigated by Patrolman Jonathan Scheck and Patrolwoman Kaitlin Black.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
