Dog Killed in Hit, Run, Police Looking for Driver

NORTH WILDWOOD – North Wildwood Police are attempting to locate the driver of a vehicle that struck a dog and left the scene Jan. 19.
Officers responded to 6th and Surf Avenues at 8:37 p.m. for a report of a hit and run motor vehicle accident involving a vehicle striking a dog. The owner of the dog told police he was walking his dog on a leash when a vehicle struck the dog and continued north on Surf Avenue without stopping. 
The vehicle that left the scene is described as possibly a dark-colored 2004 Dodge Stratus with front end damage and missing a headlight as a result of the accident. The dog, an Irish Water Spaniel, died as a result of injuries sustained in this incident.
