VILLAS – Lower Township Police Department received several 911 calls reporting a single car motor vehicle accident with a downed utility pole June 1 at approximately 4:53 p.m.
Upon arrival police encountered John C. Salzman, 28, a resident of Middle Township, standing outside of his vehicle.
The accident investigation revealed that Salzman’s pickup truck was traveling northbound on Bayshore Road when it left the roadway for unknown reasons and struck a utility pole, breaking it in half.
As a result of the damage to the utility pole and utility lines, traffic was diverted from the area for several hours as Atlantic City Electric replaced the severed utility pole and made the necessary repairs.
Salzman, who was uninjured during the crash, was arrested for driving while intoxicated. He was taken to the Lower Township Police Department where he was issued several motor vehicle summons and released to an adult.
