Crash Claims Woman’s Life, Injures Teen

MARMORA – Troopers from the Woodbine Station responded to a two-car motor vehicle crash on County Road 631 (Tuckahoe Road) at milepost 3.4 in Marmora Sept. 24 at around 3:10 p.m.

The investigation revealed that a 2007 Nissan Versa, being driven by Meg Spencer, 55, from Swarthmore, Pa., was traveling east on County Road 631. Spencer failed to maintain her lane of travel and the Nissan Versa subsequently crossed over the center line, entered the westbound lane of travel, and impacted a 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo head-on. The 2004 Chevrolet was being operated by Kalyie Shone, 17, from Upper Township.

Spencer was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision. Shone was flown to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Campus with severe leg injuries.

The New Jersey State Police Fatal Accident Unit and the New Jersey State Police Crime Scene Investigations South Unit responded to the scene in order to assist with the investigation. Also assisting with the crash was the Marmora Rescue Squad, Ocean City Rescue Squad and Upper Township Rescue Squad.
