The following is based on information received from a law enforcement agency.
FISHING CREEK – Lower Township Police responded to a motor vehicle crash Jan. 12 at approximately 11:55 p.m. on Fishing Creek Road in Fishing Creek.
According to a release, the investigation revealed Patrick Wood, 25, of Villas was driving a 2008 Nissan Altima northbound in the area of Breakwater Road. Wood lost control of the vehicle, it left the roadway and struck a tree before it came to rest.
Wood was treated at the scene for life-threatening injuries and eventually transported to Cape Regional Medical Center where he died as a result of his injuries.
Lower Township Police Officer Matthew Gamble is handling the investigation, which is ongoing.
The Villas Fire Department and Lower Township Emergency Medical Services assisted at the scene.
