By Harry B. Scheeler Jr.

RIO GRANDE — A Court House man was airlifted to Atlanticare Regional Trauma Center in Atlantic City following a high speed rollover here on the Garden State Parkway at mile post 5 north, on Wednesday, Sept 30 at 7:10 p.m.
Fred Durst, 52, was driving north on the parkway in the right lane when his sport-utility vehicle left the road for unknown reasons, struck a guardrail and came to rest on top of the guardrail, according to State Police. The Rio Grande Fire Company extricated Durst from his vehicle.
The Court House Fire Department was also dispatched to the scene with the Rio Grande Rescue Squad and Medic 9. Both northbound lanes were shut down while South Star medevac landed.
South Star’s flight crew reported Durst to have a head injury. Durst is listed in critical but stable condition, police said.
The left lane opened at 8:39 p.m. and the scene was cleared at 9:12 p.m., the state Department of Transportation reported.
Middle Township Police Department responded to the scene to assist state police while they investigated. The State Police Fatal Accident Unit, the State Police Crime Scene Investigation Unit and the Troop E Construction Unit all responded to the scene, according to State Police.
