COURT HOUSE – Middle Township police received multiple 911 calls in reference to a motor vehicle crash at Route 9 and South Dennisville Road.
It was discovered that a Cape May County asphalt truck had jumped the curb from Route 9 and crashed through the parking lot of the Shell Gas Station.
Christopher Rutledge, 46 from Ocean View, was operating the truck at the time. He had a medical issue that caused him to lose control of the vehicle.
He was treated at the scene by Middle Township Rescue and Medic 9.
Rutledge did not receive any injuries from the crash, but he was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center for observation.
James Monichetti, 54 Cape May Court House, was the only passenger in the truck. He was not injured.
The Shell gas station was closed for about an hour until the scene was cleaned up.
The crash is being investigated by Patrolman Josh Bryan.
