By Harry B. Scheeler Jr.

UPPER TOWNSHIP– A child may have been struck by lightning during a swift moving storm that moved through the area on Tuesday afternoon.
Upper Township Rescue Squad and Medic 8 were dispatched to the scene in the Marmora section of the township for a report of a person struck by lightning at around 5:50 p.m.
Upper Township Rescue Squad Chief Jay Potter said they transported the minor to the trauma unit at Atlanticare Regional Medical Center. Potter said he was unable to release the child’s name or any further details because of privacy laws.
State Police at the Woodbine station said it was unconfirmed whether or not the child was struck.
