BOSTON, MASS. — On the morning of Dec. 12, the Coast Guard responded to a call from a disabled fishing vessel that was adrift 80 miles east of Cape Cod.
The 88-foot, 218-ton fishing vessel Moragh K had a fouled propeller, restricting its ability to make way. The vessel and her five man crew began drifting in gale force winds and steady six-foot swells.
The Cape May-home ported Coast Guard Cutter Dependable was diverted from patrol to assist.
Once on scene, Dependable’s crew passed a towing line to the Moragh K.
The Moragh K was being towed to Provincetown, Mass. and was expected to arrive Dec. 13.
This is the third search and rescue case that Dependable has responded to in the past month and a half.
Boatswains Mate 2nd Class Scott Friedhoff, the deck supervisor, commented that the “evolution was well planned and safety was paramount. This is what the Coast Guard does; we come to the aid of others in need.”
The Cutter Dependable is patrolling offshore in support of homeland security, law enforcement, and search & rescue operations.
Cape May – Governor Murphy says he doesn't know anything about the drones and doesn't know what they are doing but he does know that they are not dangerous. Does anyone feel better now?
