Car Strikes Pole without Major Injuries

By Dennis Volunteer Fire Company

DENNISVILLE – The Dennis Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Route 47, just north of the Dennisville Lake at about 4:15 p.m. on Friday, July 29, 2011.
Engine 1838 responded to the scene and reported one vehicle, a Honda CRV, to have struck a utility pole and remaining in the roadway. Firefighters assisted Squad 22 (Belleplain Emergency) with the occupants from the vehicle, who all escaped without major injury.
Crews ensured the safety of the vehicle and controlled traffic for approximately 45 minutes while roadway crews worked to removed the car. Traffic was shifted, but both directions remained moving at a reduced speed to minimize traffic backup on the heavy travel day.
Officials from Atlantic City Electric responded to the scene and ensured that the utility pole that was involved in the incident was not damaged.
The New Jersey State Police responded to the scene, and are investigating the incident.
