Car Hits Ambulance, Two Injured Slightly

COURT HOUSE — Two Court House Rescue Squad EMTs were slightly injured in a two-vehicle crash Wed., March 23 at 11:04 a.m.
According to Middle Township Police, the accident occurred at the intersection of Route 9 and Stone Harbor Boulevard (CR.657).
Investigation revealed that Ambulance A-1406 of the Court House Rescue Squad was travelling north on Route 9 with its lights and sirens activated to a medical call. The ambulance, driven by William Belles 4th, of Rio Grande, stopped at the light and waited for traffic to stop before proceeding through the intersection.
When the ambulance was in the intersection a 1999 Honda Accord driven by Merrill Anderson, 19, of Marmora, was traveling west on CR 657 through the intersection and struck the ambulance.
EMT Samantha Kelly, 27, of Rio Grande, was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center by Rio Grande Rescue Squad due to neck pain.
Belles also went to Cape Regional Medical Center due to wrist pain.
Anderson was uninjured. Anderson was issued a summons for careless driving.
The Court House Fire Department responded to assist with clean up of the scene. Patrolman Ronald Miller investigated.
