Car Hits 7-Year-Old

OCEAN CITY – Ocean City Police and Fire Department personnel responded to a motor vehicle collision July 20 at approximately 9:02 a.m. in which a vehicle reportedly struck a pedestrian at the intersection of 18th Street and Bay Avenue.
According to a release, investigation on scene determined that a vehicle operated by Heide Moyer-Chwal, 55, of Pipersville, Pa., was traveling westbound on 18th Street approaching the intersection with Bay Avenue, which is controlled by a traffic signal. The vehicle turned left through a green light heading southbound on Bay Avenue, and collided with a 7-year-old boy who was walking eastbound in the crosswalk.
The boy sustained injuries, and was flown to Cooper Medical Center where he was listed in stable condition.
Moyer-Chwal remained on scene, and was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation by Patrolman Craig Wilson of the Ocean City Police Traffic Safety Unit.
