By Herald Staff

NORTH WILDWOOD — North Wildwood police were flagged down Thur., July 21 about 8 p.m. and were told about a missing person who was last seen on the beach adjacent to Spruce Avenue at Hereford Inlet.
Family members told officers that Christina Tsiotsias, 49, of Baltimore, Md. was dropped off at the beach at 3 p.m. and was to be picked up at around 6 p.m.
The family reported that they were unable to contact Tsiotsias via cell phone since dropping her off. When they went around 6 p.m. they could not locate her.
Officers found the beach blanket belonging to Tsiotsias and initiated an investigation into her disappearance. It began with a search of the area and nearby businesses.
In the morning of Fri., July 22, N.J. State Police Marine Bureau contacted North Wildwood Police Department reporting that they had recovered a body in the water adjacent to Avalon that matched the description of Tsiotsias.
An investigation is pending on the results of an autopsy performed by the medical examiner’s office.
