GREEN CREEK–On Sat., Sept. 11., at approximately 11:19 a.m., police communications received a “911′ call, for a subject who was burnt, while attempting to grind a lug nut off his vehicle.
The incident occurred at a residence in the Green Creek section of Middle Township, off Route 47, when a 72 year-old male subject was attempting to remove a lug nut from his vehicle, using a grinding tool, in front of his house.
A spark from the grinding action, ignited his oxygen tube, and burned the man on his face. Middle Township Police, Rescue and Medics, were called to the scene, and quickly transported the victim to Cape Regional Care, where he was pronounced dead, a short time later, after repeated attempts to revive him with CPR.
The victim’s name is being withheld until family can be notified of the incident.
Contrary to reports, there was no explosion and this was not an “industrial related accident.”
