Accident Injures Two in Rio Grande

RIO GRANDE – A two-car accident at the intersection of Route 47 and Railroad Avenue injured two people, sending them to the hospital.
According to Middle Township police, the accident occurred at 7 p.m. Sun., Oct. 30 when a driver making a left-hand turn failed to yield to oncoming traffic.
Candette Camerlengo, 41, of North Wildwood was driving a Jeep Laredo north on Route 47 when she made a left-hand turn onto Railroad Avenue. Her car struck a vehicle being driven by Josephine Capaldi, 71, of Audubon.
Capaldi and her passenger were taken by ambulance to Cape Regional Medical Center.
Camerlengo and her passenger complained of pain but refused transport.
Both cars received major damage and were towed from the scene.
Camerlengo was issued a summons for failing to yield.
In addition to Middle Township Police, Middle Township Rescue, Medic 9, Cape May County Sheriff’s Office and the Rio Grande Volunteer Fire Department were on scene to assist.
