Accident Downs Dennis Traffic Light

DENNISVILLE — A driver struck a pole at mile post 20.9 of Route 47, knocking down the traffic signal that controls the intersection of Routes 47 and 347.
According to State Police, William Sheldon, 37, of Delmont, was driving his Jeep south on Route 47 when the one-car accident occurred at 12:29 p.m., Fri., Oct. 14.
Sheldon sustained a closed head injury and was airlifted to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center.
Traffic at the intersection was not closed down; however the traffic light remains nonoperational. State Police are on scene directing traffic at the intersection while NJDOT makes repairs to the light.
The accident remains under investigation by Trooper Gillespie of the New Jersey State Police, Woodbine Barracks.
