This report is based on information received from law enforcement.
CAPE MAY BEACH – Lower Township Police Department responded to two unrelated motor vehicle accidents Aug. 29 that resulted in both vehicles overturning. The two separate accidents occurred within one hour of each other.
The first accident occurred in the area of Bay Drive and Mallow Road, located in Cape May Beach.
The accident investigation revealed that the vehicle, a 2003 Mercury Mountaineer, operated by John Perkins, 32, of Villas, left the roadway, struck several pylons and came to rest on its side in a resident’s driveway.
Town Bank Fire Department responded to the scene and assisted with the scene.
Perkins was charged with careless driving, failure to maintain lane, unsafe tire, and failure to produce driver’s license.
The second accident occurred in the area of Tabernacle Road and Goldenrod Court, located in Cold Spring.
The accident investigation revealed that the vehicle, a 2000 Toyota 4 Runner, operated by Robert West, of Villas, left the roadway while taking a curve, overturned, and came to rest on its side. The vehicle was discovered in a field adjacent to the above listed intersection.
West was charged with careless driving.
The accident investigations were conducted by patrol officers of the Lower Township Police Department; Patrolwoman Jennifer Anzelone and Patrolman Kevin Boyle Jr., respectively.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
