GOSHEN – Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffery Sutherland and Middle Township Police Chief Christopher Leusner announced the safe conclusion of a barricaded-subject incident in Goshen.

According to a release, on April 9, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Middle Township Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to the 200 block Route 47 North to check the well being of a resident. Upon police arrival, the individual barricaded himself inside the residence which led to a response by Middle Township Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit, as well as Cape May County Crisis Negotiation Team, Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, and Cape May County Regional SWAT Team.

A joint investigation was then conducted, which led to the road closure of Route 47 between Bucks Avenue and William Street. After approximately seven hours, the individual was safely removed from the residence and transported to Cape Regional Medical Center to be evaluated. Criminal charges are pending further investigation.

Sutherland and Leusner recognized all of the law enforcement officers involved in the investigation, along with Middle Township Rescue, Goshen Fire Department, Green Creek Fire Department, and Cape May County Fire Police who assisted on scene.
