The building in the 2600 block of Pacific Avenue where the students were housed. The property owner and landlord has received citations

By Herald Staff

WILDWOOD – Forty international students were displaced due to code violations early July 28, 6abc.com reported.
Daniel Dunn, deputy fire chief for Wildwood, told 6abc.com the department responded to a small electrical fire on the 2600 block of Pacific Avenue when they encountered numerous fire code violations.
Students were evacuated from the building and forced to move their belongings out. The power’s been turned off.
The property owner, who is also the landlord, has been notified of the issues and is being cited for multiple violations by various city departments, per the abc.com report.
Many international workers come to Cape May County for the summer on a J-1 visa. Housing for such students has been a perennial issue with affordable apartments difficult to find in the county.
The Wildwood Fire Department has assisted the students in finding housing for the rest of the summer season.
