By Press Release

COURT HOUSE – County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor and Chief Christopher Leusner of the Middle Township Police Department announced the joint investigation into a possible threat made on social media.
Earlier this morning, June 8 the Cape May City Police Department received information that a threat to an unnamed school had been posted on social media. Detectives from the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office assisted in tracing the origin of the threat to a 22-year-old individual who resides in Middle Township and who is currently being questioned by police.

This investigation is currently ongoing and criminal charges may be pending.   Officers had initially responded to schools in the area and provided security while they sheltered in place.

Prosecutor Taylor commended the cooperative efforts between the members of the Middle Township and Cape May police departments along with detectives from the Prosecutor’s Office who assisted in this investigation.
