Obituary

MURPHY, PATRICIA A.

MURPHY, PATRICIA A. Patricia A. Murphy (nee O'Rourke): September 24, 1938May 27, 2024. Loving wife of 51 years to late John "Jack" Murphy Jr. Beloved Mother of Michael (Betti Jo), John "Jake" (Leigh), Maggy and Danielle. Grandmother to Kelsey Murphy-Bishop (Mike), Michaeleen (Tom Rossi), Jake Jr., Thomas and Michael. Great-grandmother to Mikey and Gracie and aunt to many nieces and nephews including Marnie (Brian) and Rane and Doug. Pat was a homemaker when her children were young and went back to school for a nursing degree in her mid-30s. After graduating, she worked at Northeastern Hospital advancing to Nursing Supervisor, and then Cooper Medical Center. She then took on the role as the family nurse. Whenever someone in her large family was sick or hurt, Pat was always there to not only take care of them but translate the medical terms for rest of us laymen. This was a wonderful trait that she passed down to Danielle, Kelsey and now Rane. This quality shined through in the last months of her life when they all took such wonderful and loving care of her. To Pat and Jack family was the priority. From summers at the shore and parties with friends and family to many trips to Hawaii, Alaska, their many trips to Ireland, and their winters in Florida. The only thing that made them happier than spending time with their kids was doting over their grandkids and, finally, great-grandchildren. They spent their summers in their dream home on the beach in North Wildwood where they were both very involved with the ELKs #1896 and the AOH and LAOH. In the winters, their time was spent with the many close friends that also went to Marco Island and Naples Florida. They were a fixture at all the local happy hours. After losing Jack, the love of her life, in 2010 Pat continued to be the matriarch of the family, making sure that her family continued with the strong values that they taught their kids. She continued to live life without Jack with the help of her best friend, Ruth. They were known throughout Wildwood and Florida as " Thelma and Louise," although Pat and Ruth had much better adventures. Pat spent the last days of her life surrounded by loved ones in Her Castle listening to the ocean and breathing in its breezes. She left this world exactly the way she wanted to. Relatives and friends are invited to gather Friday June 7th, 2024 from 9am to 10:30am with a Mass to follow at Notre Dame De La Mer (Formerly St Anne's) at 2901 Atlantic Avenue, Wildwood, NJ 08260. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Greater Wildwood Elks #1896 Veterans Fund in Pat's name. Condolences may be sent to ingersollgreenwoodfh.com
