Stone Harbor Shiver

Chattering of teeth in the 33-degree wind and screams when feet hit the 45-degree Atlantic Ocean were the order of the day March 11 at this borough’s Seventh Annual Stone Harbor Shiver hosted by the Stone Harbor Chamber of Commerce.
Festivities, including an ice block chair on which the brave could sit for photos, were held near the Women’s Civic Club and parking lot at 96th Street and the beach.
Performers in comic garb drew laughter and applause from the crowd in the “Best Of” contest for Best Individual Costume, Best Team Name, Best Float, Best Team Performance.
Adding to the merriment at the pre-plunge event was music performed by the Fralinger String Band.
Proceeds from the bone-chilling event benefitted Family Promise of Cape May County – a charity that supports, counsels and works to place homeless parents and children in permanent homes; and the Stone Harbor Chamber of Commerce so that it can continue to host the shiver and other events throughout the year.
The fun started March 10 at the Yacht Club of Stone Harbor where the Pre-Shiver Party was held.
