COURT HOUSE – A missing teen from Middle Township was located in Georgia and two men face charges associated with luring a child.
According to information released by the Middle Township Police Department (MTPD), law enforcement began investigating the disappearance of a 14-year-old girl July 30 when she was reported missing at around 1:30 p.m.
Police put out a report asking for the public’s assistance in locating the girl, and the MTPD Major Crimes Unit began working with the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Through those combined efforts, the teen was located safely in Acworth, Georgia, Aug. 3, shortly after midnight.
Two men, Yester R. Montecillo-Vasquez and Sergio Gomez, were charged with second-degree luring a child and second-degree conspiracy to lure a child.
MTPD acknowledged the efforts of the FBI Newark Atlantic City Residential Agency, FBI Baltimore Field Office, FBI Atlanta Field Office, Cherokee County (Georgia) Sheriff’s Department, Homeland Security Investigations, Cape May County Prosecutors Office, and local residents of Middle Township for the successful recovery of the missing juvenile.
The investigation into this case remains ongoing.
