MIDDLE TOWNSHIP – The Township Committee has reappointed Thomas Keywood to a second three-year term as the township’s Municipal Court judge.

The committee’s vote on Sept. 16 to reappoint Keywood was unanimous. His new term began on Oct. 1.

Keywood has been in private practice in Cape May County for nearly two decades. He was originally appointed to the municipal judge position in September 2021.

Municipal courts have jurisdiction over cases within the municipalities they serve. These cases include violations of municipal ordinances, violations of motor vehicle traffic laws, disorderly persons offenses, petty disorderly persons offenses and other non-indictable offenses, except where exclusive jurisdiction is given to the Superior Court.

Middle Township’s court also serves Woodbine.
