Speaking before a large crowd of supporters at the Historic County Court House on March 5th, Middle Township Committeeman Theron “Ike” Gandy proudly accepted the unanimous endorsement of the Middle Township Regular Republican Organization as the party’s candidate for Township Committee in 2024.

“Ike Gandy’s reelection in November will ensure that the good work continues here in our hometown,” Former Mayor Dan Lockwood, currently the Leader of the Middle Township Regular Republican Organization, said. “The voters can rely on Ike’s experience, integrity and work ethic to keep Middle united and moving forward in a positive direction.”

Gandy’s election to a first term in 2018 ushered in the current Republican majority on Committee. That majority was solidified with the election of Committeeman Jim Norris in 2019. With the retirement of Mayor Tim Donohue at the end of 2023, Deputy Mayor Gandy is now the senior member of Township Committee, serving alongside Norris and Mayor Chris Leusner.

“Committeeman Norris and I are proud to support Deputy Mayor Gandy’s campaign for a third term on Township Committee,” Mayor Leusner said. “It is so important that Township Committee remains committed to our promise to deliver excellent municipal services at an affordable cost for our families and businesses. Ike’s six years of service are proof of that commitment.”

The Gandy family has deep roots in Middle Township. Ike Gandy grew up in the Green Creek area and attended Middle Township Schools. Ike is a proud union member of the Eastern Atlantic Regional Council of Carpenters and serves as a Supervising Foreman on major construction projects throughout South Jersey. Gandy has served on the Township Planning Board for six years. Ike Gandy resides in Swainton with his wife, Maren and son, Ty.

“I’m truly honored to receive the unanimous endorsement of my fellow Republican County Committee members,” Gandy said. “I’m committed to moving forward, as a united team with Chris Leusner and Jim Norris, to do the hard work required to meet the challenges we face in 2024 and beyond.”

Deputy Mayor Gandy oversees several departments, including Zoning, Construction, Public Works, Sewer and Buildings and Grounds. Under his leadership, the Township has made significant progress in upgrading and modernizing its sewer infrastructure, streamlining the zoning and construction permitting processes, updating the Public Works fleet and completing important upgrades to Township facilities.
