Man Killed, Two Hurt in Route 47 Crash

A Maryland man was killed and two other persons were injured when two cars collided on Route 47 in Goshen on Sunday morning, police said.

Robert Burch, of Baltimore, was pronounced dead at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center-City Division, after the vehicle he was driving northbound, a Hyundai Santa Fe, crossed into the southbound lane and struck a Buick Encore.

Burch’s passenger, a 70-year-old female, was extricated from the vehicle and transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center-City Division for further treatment.

The driver of the Buick, a 66-year-old-female, was transported to Cooper Medical Center for treatment.

Middle Township police had been dispatched to the scene on June 22 at about 9 a.m. on a report of an accident with entrapment.

Rolute 47 was closed for approximately four hours. The accident is still being investigated by the Middle Township Major Crimes Unit and the Middle Township Accident Crash Unit.

Assisting at the scene were the Goshen Fire Department, Cape May Court House Fire Department, New Jersey Department of Transportation and AtlantiCare Emergency Medical Services.
