Christopher Ryan Blevins, the man named as the boyfriend of the woman whose body was found in a refrigerator in a section of Belleplain State Forest in Dennis Township, has been indicted on charges of first-degree murder in connection with her death.

Laura Hughes, 50, went missing in July 2024, and her body was identified after it was found on Dec. 22, 2024, by a hiker who noticed the refrigerator, opened it, and notified the State Police.

Blevins, 45, was charged in the death in January after Hughes’ body was identified, primarily through distinctive tattoos. He had fled to Mexico and subsequently was arrested in California in December. He was charged with murder on Jan. 19; he had previously been charged with desecrating human remains.

Blevins’ vehicle was identified using license plate recognition technology as being in the area where Hughes’ body was found in Dennis Township.

He was formally indicted on May 21 in Camden County, where the murder allegedly took place. Both Blevins and Hughes lived in Runnemede, Camden County.
