VILLAS – The Lower Township Council honored Fire Official Donna Blackley, who has ended a quarter-century of service with the township Fire Bureau, at its Monday, Feb. 6, meeting.
Blackley was hired temporarily in 1999 and then became the permanent Fire Bureau secretary in 2000. In 2003 she attended Fire Inspection School and also took fire official courses. She attended Fire Investigation School in 2013 and was named the township’s fire official on Feb. 1, 2015.
She was born and raised in Upper Township and attended Ocean City High School. She became a flight attendant and later worked as a dental assistant before joining the Fire Bureau.
Blackley and husband Jay settled in Lower Township, where they raised their two children, Cole and Devon.
Mayor Frank Sippel and the Lower Township Council congratulated her on “her well-deserved retirement” and thanked her for her years of service, wishing her success in her future endeavors.
