LOWE, THOMAS JOHN
Thomas John Lowe of Cape May NJ passed away on September 27, 2025. He was born on February 7, 1941 in Bellmawr NJ the son of Frank Alfred Lowe and Anne Toomey Lowe.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife Joan just weeks before, he is survived by his three sons Thomas Lowe II and wife Lisa, David (Scott) Lowe and wife Cheryl, and Bryan Lowe; his three granddaughters Carolyn Beliveau and husband Bill, Stephanie Rieker and husband Ryan, and Marissa Lowe; and a newly arrived great grandson Willam Thomas Beliveau. He is also survived by his sisters Alice Gillman, Mary Ellen Beck and Ruth Sukala
A lifelong resident of New Jersey he grew up in Blackwood and married his childhood sweetheart Joan in 1961. Tom joined the Marine Corps and was part of VMF-333 and was deployed in Cuba during the Cuban missile crisis. After his service he and Joan moved to Maplewood, NJ to raise their three sons. In 1992 they moved to Cape May and never left.
He had a varied career, running his own business then working as an Atlantic City casino supervisor and finally working on the Cape May – Lewes ferry in his later years.
He and Joan delighted in having visitors to Cape May and since Grandpa was always up for anything visits were always a whirlwind of activity. We will miss him but we have decades of Cape May memories to cherish forever.
There will be a viewing and a short memorial service from 10am-11am on October 4th, 2025 at the Spilker Funeral home in Cape May NJ. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at the Cape May County Veteran's cemetery in Cape May Court House, NJ.
Donations may be made in his memory to the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation.
