Middle Township, Lower Cape May and Ocean City wrestling programs sent several wrestlers to compete in the district tournaments on Feb. 17. Middle Township and Lower Cape May participated in the District 30 tournament at Clearview Regional while Ocean City competed in the District 29 tournament at Kingsway Regional.
The Panthers as a team placed fourth on the day and had three wrestlers win titles. Romeo Rodriguez won the 126-pound title with a pin and set a new single-season win record with 38 wins. Gary James Nagle won the 170-pound title by decision and earned his 100th career win in the same match. Austin Cominsky won the 195-pound title with a pin. Karl Guilian placed second in the 160-pound weight class while teammates Carson Haas (145), Gio Berardis (182) and Kyle Matthews (220) all placed third.
For the Caper Tigers. Dominic Robertson (113) and Josh Antorino (285) each placed second in their respective weight classes. Wesley Tosto won third place in the 106-pound weight class. As a whole, the team finished in sixth place.
Nick Saninno of Ocean City placed second in the 195-pound weight class. Teammates Louie Williams (120), Peyton Bristol (126) and Billy Kroeger (170) each finished fourth in their respective weight classes. The Red Raiders finished seventh overall as a team.
The winners of these two districts will move on to the Region 8 tournament on Feb. 23 and 24 at Egg Harbor Township High School.
