Wins from the Week: April 4-9
Boys Lacrosse:
Lower Cape May earned their first win of the season, 9-6, at home against Egg Harbor Township on April 4. Chuckie Magill led the Caper Tigers with four goals while Chase Mendyk added three. Harrison Clark had 15 saves in net.
Middle Township won 14-1 at home to St. Joseph to earn their first victory of the season on April 5. Gio Berardis led the Panthers with six goals and three assists while Chase Deegan added three goals and three assists.
Ocean City blanked St Joseph, 14-0, on April 9. Marty Cattie led the Red Raiders with four goals and two assists.
Girls Lacrosse:
Middle Township won their first game of the season, 19-3, at Egg Harbor Township on April 5. Kira Sides led the Lady Panthers with nine goals with Aubrey Hunter adding five. Maddie Barber led the team with seven assists.
Lower Cape May hosted Holy Spirit on April 9 and won, 6-5, in overtime. Jenna Durbin led the Lady Tigers with three goals. Mel Amador had thirteen saves in net.
Softball:
Wildwood Catholic won 13-2 at Gateway Regional on April 5. Brianna Bailey went three-for-three with four RBIs and a home run for the Crusaders.
In the Bash by the Beach Tournament, Wildwood Catholic swept all teams to win the tournament.
Baseball:
Middle Township won 5-1 at home against Pleasantville on April 6 to earn their first win of the season. Pitcher Zach Wyatt struck out 13 for the Panthers. They continued their winning streak on April 7 with a 13-0 win against Clayton. Garrett DiPalantino had four RBIs for the Panthers.
Wildwood Catholic won 4-3 at rival Lower Cape May on April 6 under new head coach Jim Norris. Justin Klemick went three-for-four with an RBI and a run scored for the Crusaders. For the Caper Tigers, Brennan Ray hit a triple, had an RBI and scored a run.
Cape May Tech shutout West Hampton Tech, 10-0, on April 7. Carson Denham had three RBIs for the Hawks. Pitcher James Longstreet struck out eleven in the win.
Ocean City hosted Holy Spirit on April 9 and won, 1-0, for their first win of the season. Dan Nunan pitched a complete game and struck out eleven for the Red Raiders.
Boys Tennis:
Middle Township’s head coach Matt Gilbert earned his 200th career win as head coach in the team’s 3-2 victory over Vineland on April 6. The team is currently unbeaten at 4-0 after April 9’s 5-0 victory over rival Lower Cape May.
Golf:
Lower Cape May earned their first win of the season at Cedar Creek, 205-217, on April 9. Kolby Carter shot a 43 for the Caper Tigers at the par-36 course.
Ocean City won their tri-match against Egg Harbor Township and Millville on April 9. Teammates Jack Sullivan and Matt Blaker shot a 36 for the Red Raiders at the par-34 course.
