The UTSA Roadrunners will be returning home after a two-game road trip. UTSA and the Southern Miss Golden Eagles will face off in a Conference USA battle at 3:30 p.m. ET Saturday at Alamodome. The Roadrunners know how to get points on the board — the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups — so hopefully Southern Miss likes a good challenge.

Everything went UTSA’s way against the UTEP Miners last week as they made off with a 44-23 win. With UTSA ahead 30-9 at the half, the game was all but over already. It was another big night for their QB Frank Harris, who passed for two TDs and 285 yards on 33 attempts in addition to rushing for two TDs and 76 yards.
Special teams collected 14 points for UTSA. K Hunter Duplessis delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game.
Meanwhile, the Golden Eagles found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unfortunate 38-14 punch to the gut against the North Texas Mean Green last week. Southern Miss was up 14 to nothing at the end of the first quarter but couldn’t hold on to the lead. QB Jake Lange had a memorable game, but not in the way you want to be remembered: despite one touchdown, he fumbled the ball once with only 116 yards passing.
The Roadrunners are the favorite in this one, with an expected 32.5-point (!) margin of victory. They might be worth taking a chance on against the spread as they are currently on a four-game streak of ATS wins.
UTSA is now a perfect 9-0 while the Golden Eagles sit at 1-8. A couple defensive numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: UTSA is 212th worst in the nation in passing touchdowns allowed, with 18 on the season. Southern Miss has experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the contest with the 217th most touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up 26 on the season. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
After two games on the road, the North Texas Mean Green are heading back home. North Texas and the UTEP Miners will face off in a Conference USA battle at 4 p.m. ET Saturday at Apogee Stadium. If the game is anything like the Mean Green’s 45-43 win from their previous meeting in December of last year, the scorekeeper will be kept real busy.
North Texas ran circles around the Southern Miss Golden Eagles last week, and the extra yardage (537 yards vs. 229 yards) paid off. North Texas took their contest against Southern Miss by a conclusive 38-14 score. The victory came about thanks to a strong surge after the first quarter to overcome a 14 to nothing deficit. North Texas’ RB Ikaika Ragsdale was one of the most active players for the squad, rushing for two TDs and 112 yards on 15 carries.
Meanwhile, UTEP entered their matchup against the UTSA Roadrunners last week without any home losses — but there’s a first time for everything. The Miners found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unfortunate 44-23 punch to the gut against UTSA. UTEP was in a tough position by the half, with the score already sitting at 30-9. Despite the defeat, they had strong showings from QB Gavin Hardison, who passed for three TDs and 247 yards on 30 attempts, and WR Tyrin Smith, who caught three passes for two TDs and 91 yards.
This next matchup is expected to be close, with North Texas going off at just a 1-point favorite. They might be worth taking a chance on against the spread as they are currently on a three-game streak of ATS wins.
North Texas’ victory brought them up to 3-6 while UTEP’s loss pulled them down to a reciprocal 6-3. Two stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: The Mean Green are stumbling into the contest with the 242nd most thrown interceptions in the nation, having thrown 12 on the season. The Miners have had an even harder time: they are 218th worst in the nation in thrown interceptions, having thrown ten on the season. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
