WILDWOOD – The South Jersey Wrestling Association will host the 11th Annual “War at the South Jersey Shore” National Folkstyle Wrestling Championships at the Wildwoods Convention Center April 17 through April 19.
This event will feature a youth tournament with over 50 weight classes spread across five age divisions, and a high school division with 16 weight classes. Over 2,000 wrestlers from 20 states are expected to compete. The 2014 “war” will again feature expanded wrestling hours, a new mat layout for additional seating and split sessions on both April 18 and April 19.
This year’s wrestling tournament will feature a new K-12 Girls Division as well as traditional open girls and boys youth and high school divisions. Girls will have a choice of wrestling in either the open (with boys) or the girls’ “war.”
The tournament will once again feature the Live BoutBoard, which allows the wrestling public, as well as attendees at the arena, to follow all of the results real time online on the Internet as the tournament unfolds. Awards will be presented immediately after completion of wrestling in each bracket and certification of results.
Weigh-ins for wrestlers will take place in the Wildwoods Convention Center on April 17 from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. Competitions begin at 8 a.m. on both April 18 and April 19.
Ticket prices are $10 for adults, $5 for children 6 and older, and children under 6 are free.
