Wildwood School District to Hold Finals in Local Marbles Tournament

WILDWOOD – Each year, the National Marbles Tournament features mibsters from all over the country who spend their mornings at Ringer Stadium  in Wildwood during the third week of June vying for the championship title. 
For the fifth year, students will be participating in the Wildwood School District’s Marbles Tournament at Ringer Stadium on Wildwood Avenue and the Beach.  The boy and girl champions will advance to the National Marbles Tournament to be held June 19-22. 
The 21st Century Community Learning Center Program held after school at Wildwood Middle School is the sponsor of the Wildwood District Marbles Tournament.  The local mibsters recently completed preliminary competition during the last three weeks, and the top contestants will go into the finals.
In  the Girls’ Finals, the competitors are:  4th grade – Pashone Ashton and Keily Sanchez,; 5th grade – Jessica Johnson and Trayonna Jones; 6th grade – Lisbeth Oorio and Paige Springer;  7th grade – Lisbeth Garcia and Myair Henry.  Competing in the Boys’ Finals will be:  4th grade – Samuel Santiago; 5th grade – Jorge Cruz; 6th grade – Jose Garcia;  7th grade  –  Kevin Cruz.
The Finals Competition will take place on May 4 (Girls)  beginning at 3:00 p.m. and  May 5 (Boys) beginning at 2:30 p.m.  Rain date will be May 8.
