The Avalon Lions Club will be holding a beef and beer fundraiser on Sunday, October 3rd, at the Windrift in Avalon, 80th Street and the beach.
The beef and beer event will be held from 4:00-7:00pm during the Philadelphia Eagles vs. Washington Redskins football game. Tickets for the beef and beer are $20 and are available from any Avalon Lions Club member, or at the door.
The Avalon Green Team presents the 2010 Avalon Green Fair on Saturday, October 9th, from 10:00am-3:00pm inside the Avalon Community Hall, 30th Street and the beach in Avalon.
More than 30 vendors and exhibitors will be in attendance showcasing eco-friendly, cost-saving products and services. There will be free eco-friendly tote bags and stickers for the first 1,000 visitors to the Green Fair, which is sponsored by Barth Plumbing, Heating and Cooling.

The Avalon Chamber of Commerce presents its popular Seafood Festival on Saturday and Sunday, October 9th and 10th from 11 a.m.-5 pm each day.
The festival will include dozens of vendors featuring delicious food, crafts, homemade items, and more. There will be live performances from the Snake Brothers, Joanne Regan Dancers, and Jerry the Stiltwalker.
The Seafood Festival will be held outside on the parking lot immediately north of the Avalon Community Hall at 30th Street and the beach in Avalon. Free admission. For more information, contact the Avalon Chamber of Commerce at (609) 967-3936.
Avalon’s Community Hall will host a big band dance featuring the Fred Hall Orchestra on Saturday, October 16th, at 8:00pm. Tickets are $7.50, and the event is a BYOB affair. The music and dancing starts at 8:30pm. For more information, call the Avalon Department of Recreation at (609) 967-3066.
The Borough of Avalon will conduct a dune grass fertilization project in late October. A small airplane will be dropping non-toxic pellet-form fertilizer on the Avalon beachfront between 8th and 80th streets.
The fertilization will occur sometime between October 20th-24th, weather permitting. On one of those dates, the plane will make five fly-overs of the dunes at 20-30 minute intervals. The process will last two and a half hours.
The Avalon Department of Recreation will be hosting a children’s Halloween Party at the Avalon Community Hall. The party will be held at 1:00pm and will include many fun Halloween activities for children.
