Special Olympics Basketball Finals

WILDWOOD – About 1,000 Special Olympic athletes from across New Jersey participated in basketball competitions at six locations throughout the Wildwoods March 28 and 29, including the Wildwoods Convention Center, the Wildwood Crest Pier Recreation Center, Wildwood High School, Wildwood Catholic High School, the North Wildwood Community Center and the Wildwood Byrne Community Center. The athletes competed for gold, silver and bronze medals.
The mission of the Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. Thousands of coaches, volunteers, family members, friends and spectators dedicate their time to the Special Olympics New Jersey.
