CAPE MAY POINT — Don a new habit by joining the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Philadelphia at Saint Mary by-the-Sea “‘Sole Sisters’” Run 2010,” Sat., Oct. 2. The five-mile run and two-mile walk/run fundraiser commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Saint Mary by-the-Sea Retreat House.
All races start and finish at Saint Mary by-the-Sea, at 101 Lehigh Avenue. The two mile walk/run begins 8:30 a.m. The five mile run begins at 9:15 a.m. Music and refreshments will follow the races at the retreat house.
Awards for the top male and female finishers in various age categories will be presented, and the entry fee of $25 is fully tax-deductible. Even if you can’t join us to run, you can sponsor a nun to run.
Businesses and organizations are also encouraged to be a race sponsor. Sponsorships are available from the “Like Nun Other” category of $100 to the “Mother Superior” level at $2,500. These forms are available on the website at www.ssjphila.org /documents/SponsorPackage.pdf
Founded in 1909, Saint Mary by-the-Sea Retreat House offers re-treat opportunities for the Sisters of St. Joseph, along with their associates and friends, in the historic oceanside hotel built in 1889. House maintenance and renovations are an ongoing need. The proceeds from this race and other centennial celebrations will finance necessary improvements.
