Sea Isle run benefits cancer research

By On Deck Staff

The 2009 Charlotte C. Moretti Race for the Cure 5K Run and Fun Walk will take place Oct. 10, at JFK Boulevard and The Promenade.
Registration begins at 8 a.m.; the run at 9 a.m., followed by the Fun Walk at 9:05 a.m. There is a $20 donation fee for runners and a $10 donation fee for walkers. Children under 12 may participate for free but are welcome to make a donation as well.
Medals will be given in various categories to first through third place finishers in the race, including male, female, youngsters, and seniors. Proceeds from the fundraiser go to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
In 2007 the race was re-named in honor of Charlotte Moretti, a long-time Sea Isle City resident who passed away in 2006 after a five-year battle with breast cancer.
