Two local standout athletes have officially signed the National Letter of Intent to continue their athletic careers on the collegiate level.
Middle Township High School’s Bridget Ruskey verbally committed to play Division I lacrosse at La Salle University in Philadelphia last year and made the decision formal on Nov. 16. Ruskey led the state with 135 single-season goals in 2016, and is just 20 goals shy of 400 for her career entering her senior season. Ruskey excelled on the soccer field and the basketball court as well. Ruskey tallied nine goals in soccer this fall season, finishing her career with 41 goals. In basketball last season, Ruskey led the Panthers with an average of 13.3 points a game and enters this season with 805 total career points.
Wildwood High School’s Andrew Mormile officially signed his letter of intent with Wagner College in Staten Island to play Division I baseball on Nov. 21. The shortstop will enter his senior season with a career 59 hits, 37 of them coming from his junior year, and 63 career runs scored. Mormile will have a familiar face on the squad, as he will be joining his older brother Chris, who will make his college debut this upcoming baseball season.
