COURT HOUSE – The Rotary Club of Mid Jersey Cape invites all to join in its very first Run for Rotary Oct. 11 in Middle Township. Hosted by Burke Motor Group, the race allows participants to “Run, Walk or Roll” in this fun 5K event that will help raise money for the Rotary club’s community projects and scholarship programs.
The race will start and finish at Burke Motor Group on Bayberry Drive and the course will go past both the high school and the middle school with a turn-around point at the end of Benny’s Landing Road. There is also an option for a 2-mile walk. The Rotary club also hopes that wheelchair participants will take part in the event.
“We are proud to be the host of this brand new event and hope many runners and walkers of all ages will take part in this fun race,” said Francey Burke, Director of Community Relations. Burke Motor Group is also pleased to provide the prizes for the winners in each category.
The course brings back a lot of memories for event organizer, Emily Paul of South Dennis: “Anyone who went to Middle when I did surely remembers running the mile for gym class on Benny’s Landing Road,” said Paul. “I also ran cross-cross country in high school and have fond memories of training on these same roads. It’s a beautiful place to run – especially this time of year.”
While there won’t be any gym teachers on the course, students from the Rotary’s Interact Club at Middle Township High School will be on hand to cheer runners on and help with direction.
Registration for the event is currently available online at Active.com by searching “Run for Rotary.” Participants can also register the day of the event between 9:30 – 10:30 at Burke Motor Group. The race will start at 11:00 a.m. For more information about the race or for sponsorship opportunities please call 215-906-9227 or email rotaryrunsmjc@gmail.com.
