Players of the Spring 2017 Season

The second season of Cape May County Sports’ Player of the Week contest (sponsored by William H. Panico, DMD) has officially come to a close.
Throughout the spring sports season, fans participated in a weekly poll featuring two outstanding athletes who were nominated for their performances based on the week’s contests.
The first winner of the spring season was Middle Township’s Chase Deegan. He led the Panther boys’ lacrosse team with four goals in the team’s first win of the season.
Kolby Carter of Lower Cape May golf won week two by hitting his first career hole-in-one in the Caper Tigers’ 200-203 win against Wildwood Catholic.
Wildwood’s Andrew Mormile won the third week with his performance with the Warrior baseball team. He pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts and scored three runs in the team’s 11-1 victory over Clayton.
Rob Giulian of Middle Township boys’ tennis won the fourth week by winning his first singles matches against Oakcrest and Cedar Creek during spring break.
Lower Cape May’s Justin Nicholas won week five for his performance on the Caper Tiger baseball team. Mid-way through the season he was leading the team throughout the stat book.
Jayla Jamison of Wildwood Catholic won the sixth week by leading the Lady Crusader softball team by going 4-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in the team’s win over Middle Township.
Cape May Tech baseball player Kyle Eppright won week seven by going 3-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored in the Hawks’ win against Wildwood Catholic.
Matt Harris of Middle Township baseball hit a triple and had three RBIs in the Panthers’ game against Oakcrest to earn himself the week eight title.
Ocean City boys’ lacrosse goalie Mark Kolmer won week nine by making fifteen saves in the Red Raiders’ playoff win against Ocean Township.
Allison Hunter of Middle Township won the tenth week. She finished her Panther girls’ lacrosse career with a state record of 318 career assists.
Charles Fields of Wildwood Catholic won week eleven for his performance in track and field. He won three gold medals at the track and field state championships.
The final winner of the spring season was Natalee Colon of Wildwood. She led the Warrior softball team by going 6-for-6 with five runs and four RBIs in the team’s win at Pleasantville earlier in the season.
Winter season winners: Tyler Tomlin (Wildwood), Ashley Jackson (Wildwood Cath.), Olivia Levin (Lower Cape May), Coley Holton (Middle Twp.), Philicia London (Cape May Tech), Mackenzie McCracken (Wildwood), Patrick Holden (Lower Cape May), Tracey Young (Wildwood), Marissa McGaffney (Lower Cape May), Ryan Legler (Wildwood Cath.), Rosalia Daddi (Ocean City), Mike Yorio (Lower Cape May) and Khushbu Patel (Middle Twp.)
