Players of the Week for the Fall 2017 season: top row: Hunter Paone

Throughout the fall sports season, fans participated in a weekly poll featuring two outstanding athletes who were nominated for their performances based on the week’s contests.
Nominees for Cape May County Sports Player of the Week came from football, girls soccer, boys soccer, cross country and girls tennis from Cape May County’s six high schools.
Ten student-athletes were recognized for their performances this fall:
Week 1: Ocean City High School’s Hunter Paone for being a key scorer for the Red Raiders boys’ soccer team.
Week 2: Lower Cape May Regional’s Cecilie Reeb for having two goals and an assist in the Lady Tiger field hockey team’s 4-0 win against Holy Spirit.
Week 3: Wildwood Catholic’s Beck Lindsay for scoring the game-winning goal in the Crusader boys soccer team’s 1-0 win at Buena Regional.
Week 4: Middle Township’s Kate Herlihy for scoring the game-winning overtime goal in the Lady Panther field hockey team’s win at Lower Cape May.
Week 5: Lower Cape May’s Brennan Ray for scoring three touchdowns in the Caper Tiger football team’s first win of the season at Wildwood.
Week 6: Wildwood’s Vito Hernandez for scoring a touchdown for the Warrior football team’s game at Gloucester.
Week 7: Wildwood Catholic’s Julia Sorensen for being the top Crusader female finisher in the county and league cross country meets.
Week 8: Lower Cape May’s Jake Robb for having a 95-yard kickoff return touchdown in the Caper Tiger football team’s game at Buena Regional.
Week 9: Ocean City’s Faith Slimmer for being a key goal scorer for the Red Raider girls soccer team in the post-season.
Week 10: Wildwood Catholic’s Rakim Coyle for being a strong defender for the Crusader boys soccer team this season.
Player of the Week will return in January for the winter high school sports season.
