Ocean City Boy Wins Golf Tournament

GALLOWAY — Matt Galownia, of Ocean City, won the 14-18 year-old age bracket in the Central Atlantic Jr. Classic tournament at Seaview Marriott Resort on March 28.
Galownia shot 75 in 18 holes (par 71) on a rainy, cold and windy day with highs in the 40s. He shot one better than second-place finisher Heather Petronis, of Northfield.
Other finishers from Cape May County in that age group included: Kyle McMullen, of Court House, fourth; Shaun Clark, of North Cape May, 11th; Shane Parker, of Cape May, tied 12th; Meghna Patel, of Court House, tied 18th; Austin Parker, of Cape May, 23rd; and Alex Pomerantz, of Wildwood Crest.
In the 10-13 age group, John Longstreet, of Court House, finished tied for second place with a 45 in nine holes. He was just three shots off the winner Timothy Colanta, of Monroe Township.
Other county finishers included: Stephen Pashuck, of Ocean City, fourth; Dhruv Patel, of Court House, tied ninth; and Blake Vodges, of Wildwood Crest, tied ninth.
The weekend tournaments marked the official launch of the Cape Jr. Golf Tour, part of the Junior Golfers’ Association of America.
