COURT HOUSE — Please take time from your busy schedule to acknowledge our heroes and their families for their tremendous sacrifice for us. South District Elks will help man the Hero Markers along the route to Galloway Township. The ten participating Elk Lodges are, Brigantine, Clayton, Deerfield, Egg Harbor, Galloway, Greater Cape May, Greater Wildwood, Millville, PennsGrove and Vineland.
At 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 26, there is a Flag Ceremony scheduled with a twenty-one gun salute in honor of New Jersey’s Fallen Heroes at Sunset Beach in West Cape May, New Jersey.
A team of active military service personnel carrying flags will run keeping military pace of 8 minutes per mile and starting the 172+ mile to honor every service member killed in Operation Iraq Freedom and Enduring Freedom.
The opening ceremonies for the run are at Cape May Lighthouse with an 8 a.m. ceremonial start. Then onto Sunset Beach in West Cape May through West Cape May and over the bridge into Wildwood running along Atlantic Avenue to the Vietnam War Memorial and over to New Jersey Avenue to the Wildwood Elks Lodge. From Wildwood, they follow Ocean Drive to Stone Harbor, Avalon, Sea Isle ending in Ocean City for the first day, Sept. 27, 2013.
Every mile a dedication to a New Jersey Hero by the runners will be honored at each Hero Marker and present an American Flag and personal biographical card, in honor of the fallen Hero.

Sept. 27: 8 a.m. to 4:05 p.m. – Cape May Lighthouse to Ocean City
Sept. 28: 6:30 a.m. to 6:10 p.m. – Ocean City to Tom’s River
Sept. 29: 6:30 a.m. to 3:40 p.m. – Tom’s River to Holmdel, NJ
