National Softball Tournament Comes to Middle Township

COURT HOUSE — Mayor F. Nathan Doughty announced an upcoming United States Specialty Sports Association softball tournament this weekend in Middle Township.
The USSSA will bring the first of four regional softball tournaments to the township on June 13 and 14 when “Baseball the Middle Way” hosts a 36-team girl’s tournament.
The games will be played at the Davies Complex, at the Boyd Street fields and also in Avalon this weekend. Teams from five states will compete for championship’s in divisions of 12 and under; 14 and under and 16 and under.
This is the third year that USSSA will visit south jersey.
“The kids want to keep coming back to the jersey shore,” said USSSA Regional Director Jeff Kittle.
A township release estimated that the economic impact of such an event could bring approximately one million dollars to local businesses.
